This study aims to analyze the buying and selling practices of palm oil to middlemen (toke) in Desa Papaso, Sosa Sub-district, Padang Lawas Regency, through the lens of Islamic law. The trade activities involve local farmers and middlemen who purchase palm oil directly from farmers. Several unethical practices are found, such as price manipulation, inaccurate weighing, and market monopoly.
This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that some practices violate Islamic economic ethics, especially the principles of fairness, honesty, and transparency.
Islam strictly prohibits fraudulent activities, usury (riba), and exploitation in commercial transactions. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct training and socialization of sharia principles to the community and business actors to ensure that trade practices comply with Islamic legal standards that promote justice and mutual benefit.
