Abstrak

Globalization is the process of integrating local features into global flows, which is mostly done through communication and information technology. Although initially – historically globalization – was seen as a process of integrating the local economy into the world economy, globalization refers to a space where a process of global interaction occurs through the means of communication technology.

Globalization allows people to know the situation and conditions of other countries in all corners of the world easily. This can directly or indirectly affect a society both positively and negatively. So far the impact of globalization on society has been seen in people's way of thinking which then influences their perspectives and behavior towards ideology, politics and economics.

Not hiding the fact that now more and more Muslims are increasingly aware that there are modern values that are beneficial for the smooth running of Islamic communication activities. Globalization which is increasingly embracing human life makes it impossible for them to escape, unless they deliberately confine themselves by moving away from increasingly sophisticated interactions and communications. Globalization, when used for good purposes, will contain positive things. Conversely, it will have negative consequences, when drifting on negative things. So globalization will depend on who uses it and for what purpose it is used. So for da'wah globalization can be a benefit, it can also be a disadvantage. The product of globalization, namely communication technology, can be used as a tool for da'wah and can also be a threat to da'wah.
